Trouble attaching photos to Hotmail email
Latest post: Mele Max, Sunday, August 22, 2010 9:56 PM

Tonight Hotmail would let me attach files but not photos.  Clicking on the "attach" button brought up the option to attach files, but not to attach photos.  I have attached photos before, with no problem.  Is that function temporarily disabled?  If so, how soon will it be fixed?

Hi. I have moved your post here at the Sending Attachments with Hotmail forum.

Your system may not be supported by the Photo Upload Tool feature, if you are not seeing the "Photo" option in the "Attach" drop-down button. Please tell me what browser and operating system you are using.

I am running Windows Vista 64, and Internet Explorer.  Until this week I was able to attach photos to my newly composed Hotmail emails using the Attach button and Photos option, (via the Photo Upload Tool feature) with no problem.  But suddenly all I get when I click on the "Attach" button is taken directly to my directory tree, from which to browse for or select the file I want to attach.  No option to attach Photos (except one at a time as s file).  I had not changed anything on my computer that I know of.  That is why I wondered if MS had changed something, or was having trouble.

How can I get the photo upload tool to reinstall?  I also can't even find an option to do that.  I did look up your site's instructions on how to do that, but they wll not work becasue I do not see the "Photos" option when I click on the "attach" button.

@CelticaDea
and @JP74

Thanks for the confirmation. We've verified from our Escalation Specialists that the photo upload tool does not work on Windows Vista 64 bit. It may be supported in the future release of Hotmail as this is now being looked into.

You can still upload your photos though. You can use the "Attach > File" option instead.

Thanks.

But WHY has MS Vista 64 stopped working with MS Windows Live Hotmail's Photo Upload Tool?  It was working fine last week (in February).  Either MS changed something in a recent update to Vista 64, or in Hotmail Live, or in Internet Explorer, or some combination thereof that caused this new incompatability problem.  Please fix it.  And please stop making changes that mess up things that were working!

Hi JP74, thanks for this feedback.

This may have been caused by the recent update. However, we can't be definite about that. I assure you though that this feature will be back on the next release.

When is the next release? I have the same problem as JP74, and would hope that the next release is soon. I got my laptop to do graphic work and this is hindering me quite a lot.

When do you estimate it to be? [the next release that is]

so has anyone fixed the problem yet? i wanted to upload pictures to my e-mail but something weird happened.  I clicked on attached photo and it shows my pictures files to the left and when i click on a folder it says:

Photo Upload Tool

"You have new image format in this folder

The converter is downloading......"

and nothing happens!  i don't want to upload my pictures as a file because the person reading their mail, I want them to automatically see the pictures in the e-mail. I dont want them to download a file.  If this update is not suitable for windows vista what is the reason for it?  Because i'm pretty sure everyone who is buying a new standard pc gets windows vista.  And I'm not going to take my time using photo gallery
