This solution article provides information about how to sign in and sign out of Messenger in Windows Live Hotmail without installing Windows Live Messenger client.

You can sign in to Messenger and send messages to your Messenger contacts from Windows Live Hotmail. Windows Live Messenger service is integrated into Windows Live Hotmail.

Please try the following steps to login to Messenger from Windows Live Hotmail:
1. Sign in to Hotmail, and click Messenger menu on the action bar.

2. Click Sign in to Messenger (Web).

Note: You can sign in to Messenger in only four locations at one time. If you try to sign in to a fifth location, you will automatically be signed out of one of the other locations.

To automatically sign in to Messenger when you sign in to Windows Live Hotmail, on the Messenger menu, click “Sign in automatically from this location”.

To sign out of Messenger, on the Messenger status menu, click “Sign out of Messenger (Web)”.
Note: If you're signed in to Messenger at more than one location, click “Sign out from everywhere” to sign out from all locations at the same time.

Please note that your computer must meet the following minimum system requirements:
# A monitor with a screen resolution of at least 1024 x 768.

# Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 or later or Firefox 2.0 or later. Safari is not supported.
