Windows Live Help
Question Answered
Hello,
I am trying to set up my email account in Frankling Coveys Plan Plus Online. I got the incoming set up correctly, but the outgoing SMTP settings are not working.
I used smtp.live.com with a port of 25 and checked teh SSL box.
I spoke with Franklin Coveysupport and they indicated it was probably a problem with my account settings.
Thanks,
Sean

Did this solve your problem?
I replied that my problem was solved by accident. I do have the Live Hotmail Plus. I currently use this with my Microsft Outlook. Could that be the problem since it is running on 2 programs?
It has not affected the import side of the email just the sending.
Running 2 programs could not be the cause of this issue. Covey support is correct, because it's possible that it's only due to your account's POP3 (Post Office Protocol) settings.
Is there a way to change the settings? I am trying to get this working and this minor issue is holding me up.
Can you post your e-mail address here so I can check its settings?

@Sean
Thanks for posting back!
I finally found out the reason behind this and I've already created a back-end fix for it. You should now be able to use your POP3 access properly.
Note: I’ve removed your e-mail address in your post so that it will not be available to everyone.
I have tried to set it up and it is still not working.
I went online and founf the settings:
smtp.live.com with a port of 25. I have checked the SSL box.
I entered the login info as well.
Are these settings correct for my account?
I am also having this problem too. I am in the UK so am elligable for the free POP3/STMP service recently rolled out by the Windows Live team. I am trying to get it to work in Outlook 2007. I have tried all 3 settings as to how the program get's the logon information for the STMP server and also made sure I'm set to port 25 and set the STMP server to stmp.live.com. Please help.
Hmmm… It’s possible that your ISP, router firmware, or firewall blocked port 25. Try using 587.
It seems my ISP had blocked port 25 (as I unblocked it on my router). If anyone else is having this problem then use port 587. Thank you for the help.
Still no luck.
Sean, I’ve sent you a private message (PM). To check your PM:1. Click on your Sign in name displayed right beside “Signed in as” found at the upper right side of the page.2. Under “My Private Messages,” click “Cant setup outgoing messages“ message to open it.

Same deal here. Neither 25 or 587 work.
