I'm getting an error when i log in into windows live messenger...

Error signature

AppName: wlcomm.exe     AppVer: 14.0.8050.1202     ModName: kernel32.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.3119     Offset: 00009e3a

I need help resolving this problem :( i'd very like to use that new 9.0 version instead of my older one...(older one works fine)

i have solved this problem. the reason of this problem is that some software made a collision with live messenger.

"kernel32.dll"  <--- this file is a reason.

find a software using kernel32.dll
(windows-start-searching)

if you delete a program which includes kernel32.dll, you can log in live messenger.

anyway, english is not my first language.

so it's difficult for me to explain this in english.

i hope you would understand what i say.

i would definatly advise against deleteing the file kernel32.dll.

kernal 32.dll is located in your system folder and is an essential file that manages, memory management, input/output operations, and interrupts. by deleting this you may well corrupt your copy of windows and will have to reinstall. i have not tried deleting this file as i dont want to take the risk i am also having the same problem as u and have been able to find little help on the web.

i would ask support directly, i will its the best way

thanks ricardo glad i was able to help in some way. its definatly a strange problem though iv been using the new messneger for a while then the other day it suddenly came up with this i hadnt made any changes to my system or installed new software or hardware just appeared. hopefully this will be solved i can still chat with people by moving the box to the side but this isnt much o a solution and is frankly just an annoyance.

To resolve the issue, I suggest that you contact the support group of Windows Live Messenger.  Refer to the instructions posted by Joseph D above on how to reach them.

Windows live communications platform has stopped working, a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. windows will now close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

Then when the help comes up it says to click on windows updates, but there are no updates available.

And on my msn it says it cant sign me in, i clicked show me information and it says error code 800706be.

i have tried uninstalling and re-installing so many times and i have tried to go back to the old msn but it wont let me do that either

In order to send a report to the Windows Live Messenger team, just launch the link that was provided by my co-moderator. Then click the version of Windows Live Messenger that you are using. Choose any topic then click Get more help. Choose Get support to send a service request.

You can try this trick to solve this problem! (Working for me under Windows 7 RC1)

- Make sure to exit Windows Live Messenger

- You must Show hidden files and folder in Windows folder options

- Go to C:\Documents and Settings\ Your Windows logon name \Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft

- Delete the Windows Live Contacts folder

- Re-launch Windows Live Messenger and try to sign in

I have the same problem and I tried your solution but unfortunatly the folder "windows live contact" recreates himself each time I try to connect again. If you have any idea so that the folder stays deleted, please tell me.
