Can you help me get my contacts list back? I logged in one day and it was gone. The list in my e-mail and the list in my messenger acct have disappeared. I did two things the day before it disappeared - I updated Java, and installed some NERO software. I read on some forums that there could have been a trojan program disguised as a Java update designed to steal contact lists, so I wonder if I fell for that. The day the list was stolen, a lot of my friends received junk mail and and I received failed deliver notices from some of that junk mail. I immediately changed all my passwords, and I have not received anything since...

tbrea, I checked your account in our Control Panel and retrieved your contacts. I sent the list of your contacts to your Hotmail account.

On the other hand, please contact Abuse Team to address your concern on messages sent to your contacts without your permission. You can contact them at abuse@hotmail.com.

I just installed a new version of windows live and then all my contacts were gone. Why did that happen ?

Based on your account and your description, it appears that you are referring to your Windows Live Messenger contacts. To resolve this issue, contact their support team by:

1. Go to http://help.live.com/help.aspx?project=a&querytype=topic&query=default_help_proc_messengerversion.htm&market=en-us

2. Select your Messenger version.

3. Select one of the help topics displayed on the left panel. 

4. Click Get more help at the lower-right corner of the window then click Get support. 

5. Complete the e-form and then click Submit.

How do I get someone at Window to reply to me?  I've been asking for days how to get my contact list back and cannot get a response. Thanks, k

Hi Karen,

We do not have the tools to reinstate your contacts automatically. You need to manually add the e-mail addresses recovered by my colleague to your address book. Please refer to Tyrone's e-mail to your Hotmail account for the list of your recovered addresses.

Where would I find your email to see which contacts you retrieved.  I keep getting sent back to this forum.  Thanks, K

I've resent the e-mail several times to your account but our records shows that you're not receiving our e-mail. I suggest that you temporarily set your Junk Mail Filter settings to delete your e-mail messages in the Junk folder at a later time as this might be the reason why you're not receiving our e-mail. Please refer to the following steps:

1. In the upper-right corner of the Windows Live Hotmail home page, click Options, and then click More options.
2. Under Junk e-mail, click Filters and reporting.
3. Under Filters and reporting, select Later, and then click Save.

Once you have changed this settitng, please reply to this post and we'll resend it again.
