Hi. I am trying to configure Outlook Express to recieve my emails from my Live/Hotmail account. I have found and followed online instructions for how to configure Outlook Express (I have version 6) to do so, but it keeps asking for my password. I have also followed online error solving solutions, but I am still getting errors. I know 100% sure my password is correct, so I don't know what the issue might be, I hope someone here can help me. I run Windows XP if that helps.

I followed those instructions from scracth, but it still keeps asking me to type in username and password for the server pop3.live.com

On the "send and recieve" thingie, I get the following error:

"Det oppstod et problem under pålogging til e-postserveren. Passordet ditt ble ikke godkjent. Konto: 'pop3.live.com', Server: 'pop3.live.com', Protokoll: POP3, Svar fra server: '-ERR mailbox could not be opened', Port: 995, Sikker (SSL): Ja, Serverfeil: 0x800CCC90, Feilkode: 0x800CCC92"

The first sentence, "Det oppsto et problem under pålogging til e-postserveren. Passordet ditt ble ikke godkjent" translated: "There was a problem while logging on to the e-mailserver. Your password is not accepted."

I have double checked the password via my browser, and I know 100% sure it is the correct password.

Hi SoyaZalo.  Can you tell me if your password was accepted when you tried to sign in via the Hotmail site at http://mail.live.com?  Please also post your Hotmail account here so I can check it. 

Yes, I am able to log in with no problems to mail.live.com There are 2 accounts I am hoping to add to Outlook Express, I get the same error on both. One of them is {removed email address}

I’ve verified that you haven’t set your secret question and answer on your account. You need to update this information so that you will not encounter any issues accessing it as soon as we’re done with our investigation. Visit this link posted by Shiela to determine how to set this up.

Sorry for late reply. I had major issues yesterday connecting to this site after I set a secret question. I have set a secret question on both accounts now. Oh and by the way, I know my current password is weak, but I changed it temporarily while giving you guys access.

I don't have anything called "My Escalations" on either side. I have Signed in as, My Discussions, My Favorites, Post I Have Not Read, Recent Discussions and Most Active Users. On the left side nothing.

The Escalation Specialist has not replied. The My Escalations panel will appear once the specialist replies. In the meantime, make sure that the Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) check box is unchecked on your settings.

Just about how long does it usually take for the Escalation Specialist to reply? I understand this has to do with the complication of the issue at hand and other things, but I was just wondering cirka how long I might have to wait :)

I won’t be able to give you an approximate time for when the Escalation Specialist will reply to your concern. It usually doesn’t take too long, though sometimes it does vary depending on the gravity of the situation.

Well we finally made it work with Outlook Express, however, I have one last question. When I got home today, all my email in the inbox in Outlook Express was gone. When using Outlook Express with Windows Live, will it automatically delete emails after a while if you have it set to keep a copy online?

I actually checked my emails online as well, some of them where there, but I have lost one or two important emails because of this.
