New computer w/Vista. Having great difficulty in composing reply messages.  Keystrokes do not appear until numerous hits on the single key.  Almost seems to be random. Problem seems to worsen with the length of time composing the reply. No problem composing new mail. Solution anyone? 

Hi Norm12. I realize that you need this issue resolved immediately. To rule out your browser's settings as the cause of the issue, please optimize it.

Thank you.  I was unable to answer you via my new computer.  Therefore, I am using my ancient Dell (circa 2000).

I've done everything you have suggested.  In addition I restored my system back to middle of October.  Nothing has helped.  Working in this old OS seems to be OK.

Meanwhile, I have purchased Windows 7 to see if changing out the operating system will help.

Needless to say, I find it odd that I need to use Windows 2000 to access my email.

Anyother advice would be greatly appreciated.

Norm, to speed up the investigation of your problem, post the following information here:

- Confirm the browser (together with its version) that you’re using when experiencing the problem on your new computer.
- Verify if a similar problem happens when using a different browser on your new computer.
- Verify if the issue only occurs when composing messages in Hotmail or if a similar problem happens when composing messages on other websites or applications.
- Confirm if the same issue happens on other Hotmail accounts that are accessed on your computer.

Browser=IE 8.0.6001.18828

Do not have problem in Firefox nor any other apps., e.g. Word, Excel Newsvine, etc.

Do not have problem in any other email accounts in "reply" mode.

Do not have problem on old computer.

Only in Hotmail "reply".

Oh, yes, it does happen on my wife's hotmail account also.  Same symptoms.

Moving to Firefox as an immediate fix.

Please try reinstalling IE8 and verify if the same issue persists. If it does, please try using IE7 instead and let me know your findings. This link might be helpful for you:

Using IE8, 64 bit version, seems to have solved the problem. When I switch to IE8 32 bit, problem exists. Of course, all works well under Mozilla Firefox.
