I cannot either download or send e-mails through POP3 /SMTP
I have read this forum but seems there is no solution yet!
I've set up my Outlook Express to get and send Hotmail mail via POP3 / SMTP after the announcement of free POP services for Windows Live Hotmail after the retirement of DAV protocol. I have configured OE as described on the Live Hotmail site.
However while trying to connect I was always received an error
"There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'Hotmail', Server: 'pop3.live.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR authentication failed', Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92"
- I typed my correct user name and password. I copied->pasted them to both OE window and Windows Live Hotmail web interface, web site accepted them, but OE refused!
- I don't use Proxy,
- I connect to the Internet directly,
- My Firewall allows Outlook Express to be connected to the Internet,
- My ISP doesn't block ports 25 or 995.
I am able to connect to other e-mail servers without any problems using POP3 port 995 and SSL or SMTP port 25 and SSL, so that, or my Firewall, or other local settings cannot be a reason for the error.
I have tried configuring other PC that uses another internet provider to access my Hotmail account – same error!
It definitely looks like PROBLEM exists on the HOTMAIL END!
I have read through this forum but seems there is no solution yet!
Does anyone from the Hotmail can check my account ({removed email address}) on the Live Mail server?
