I have the solution:

Go into Windows Live Mail -> Options -> Connection -> Stop Signing In.

Fixed it for me. How annoying that was.

Also no where in any of the options does Windows live come up as an option

I use Microsoft vista it does not give me an EMAIL option under Programs in internet options!

Hi,

I am having the same problem but when I go into 'Internet Options>Programs>Set Programs, it takes me to the Control Panel>Default Programs window which doesn't allow me to set Hotmail as my default since that only allows for actual Programs to be set. So what do I do? I even reset Internet Explorer as my default browser to see if that would enable an option to set Live Hotmail as the default Email as per previous instructions. Now Andrei earlier stated that when you go into Internet Options>Programs then you click on a drop down list and select Windows Live Hotmail. But I didn't get that final option.

Hi!

Same problem here: Windows live is set as default email program, as instructed above.

I've searched in the msn settings and tools, but still cant find my answer:

When I click on the mail icon, or the "inbox" when right clicking on the msn icon in the task bar, the windows live mail opens instead of the hotmail (or windows hotmail) in my Internet explorer...

Please let me know what can be done...

I repeat, under IE<tools<programs<email: I have "windows live hotmail"

p.s. I've already rebooted my computer, and closed msn entirely, but I do now wish to remove windows live mail completely...

Have you tried the steps provided by Windows Live Andrei L.? if that doesn't work for you, you have to contact the Windows Live Messenger Support Team since this is happening when you're accessing your messages via Messenger. Here's how:

1. Go to http://help.live.com/help.aspx?project=a&querytype=topic&query=default_help_proc_messengerversion.htm&market=en-us
2. Choose your Messenger version
3. On the new window, click any topic at the left side of the page
4. Click "Get more help" located at the bottom right part of the page
5. Click "Get support."

It's possible that your Hotmail account is not properly set as your browser's default e-mail program. I suggest that you double-check this setting so that you'll resolve this issue. To do this:

1. Launch Internet Explorer.
2. On the "Tools" menu, click "Internet Options."
3. Click the "Programs" tab.
4. In the “Email:” drop-down, choose Windows Live Hotmail.
5. Click Apply button and then Ok.

I currently have Windows Live hotmail as my default email program but when I click to open my mail on Windows live messenger, Windows Live mail comes up instead of Windows Live hotmail. Can you help me with this problem? Thanks.
