I received an explanation that you 'were working on this feature' (able to Chat on the Page) but WHY is HOTMAIL the last to get anything ...?? trailing after GMail who is a mere 5 YEARS OLD. I have been a 'loyal' Hotmail user since 1998 and I'm used to the layout. I repeat: Hotmail is slow in catching up to OTHER Web-based Email Accounts.

The product team does a series of tests before releasing the feature to the users. Nonetheless, thanks for the feedback, JDV@CT. As mentioned, we've marked this feature as one of the features to consider in the next release.

I will be unable to give you a definite time for when this feature will be available. Currently, Windows Live Hotmail is slowly being updated to accommodate the Web Messenger feature. Soon, this feature will be available to all Windows Live Hotmail users.

I’ve also moved your post to the Windows Live Hotmail Feedback Forum where similar concerns are being discussed.

Live Messenger (Chat)

I was directed here by "Help" so don't know if I'm in the right place for this question!! No one else seems to mention Chat (IM) at all and surely I can't be the only one to wonder about this. I have NO problems with Hotmail! I just have a question.

Question: When will we be able to CHAT on our INBOX PAGE like we can on GMAIL and YAHOO? It is so easy and no need to Download Live Messenger especially when one is not the Administrator on a computer (like I am at the moment) so cannot Download Messenger anyway! I have to go to my GMail account in order to do so.

Thank you in advance .... {removed email address}
