Thank you , at last the photo upload tool is back and works (for me) Whew! what a road!

Having worked in Timbuktu, where the link is often broken, then an automatic save for me is actually useful.

For me, the utter bane of my life is the damn 'quick add panel' which consumes 25% of my writing and thinking space on RHS of email composition, during replies etc.  I can never see how a (eg business) email will appear for the recipient, where to put in hard returns etc. When you get an indented thread of emails, it's much worse and gets skinnier and skinnier. I feel I am writing in a keyhole with my poor eyesight.  And I've never used the damn facility in >13000 msgs!

Why on earth isn't it an option in the user's profile to turn on/off, or just a single activation button ABOVE the composition window, rather than taking out a whole vertical side panel of my screen real estate ???

Langware suggested some workarounds awhile back, but for various reasons they are difficult or potentially very complicated (eg using another browser and a special patch to stop unwanted ads..)

What %age of users/emails actually use the 'Quick Add' facility anyway? Why should we all suffer ?

Maybe there's a business (advert) model behind Mixcrsoft's thinking, but I'm a paying hotmail Live customer.

Anything you can do to fix this awful interface design, or at least please poll hotmail users to see what everyone thinks of the facility?

I did suggest a work around that will completely eliminate the Quick Add Pane, but you are correct .... it requires using the Firefox browser and installing some extensions to Firefox.

There is another alternative that might work with Internet Explorer, but it too requires that an add-on be installed into IE.

Of course, the easiest solution would be for Microsoft to implement an option that would allow the user to enable or disable the Quick Add Pane. This would not be a difficult thing to do (eliminating the Quick Add Pane can be done in 4 lines of code, so making it an option might take 20 lines of code .... something a good programmer could do in an hour).

There have been numerous posts in these forums (over the past NINE MONTHS) asking Microsoft to make the Quick Add Pane an option .... the Mods here dutifully forward those requests to the Hotmail Product Team, and in the past NINE MONTHS the product team has done NOTHING.

The recent release of Hotmail would have been an excellent opportunity for Microsoft to implement an option to enable/disable the Quick Add Pane ... but unfortunately the product team is still ignoring customer's requests for this option.

Since MSFT Brandon M feels that this thread is only for comments about the Photo Upload Tool, then perhaps you should start a new thread and ask Microsoft to implement an option to enable/disable the Quick Add Pane.

However, be prepared for frustration. The Mods will answer with soomething like this: The Quick Add Pane cannot be disabled, but we will forward your request to the Product Team for their review.

Then, you will receive NOTHING from the Product Team.

That is why many users have decided to switch to Firefox and download the script that removes the right-side ads and removes the Quick Add Pane. That script has been downloaded over 16,000 times!

Actually, I use the Quick Add Panel from time to time.  Rather than see it go away permanately, I would like to see the enable/disable option incorporated.

It would be nice if Microsoft implemented an option to enable/disable the Quick Add Pane .... but I do not think that will ever happen.

The closest one can come to that is to switch to Firefox and install the script (which removes the Quick Add Pane). Then, when one wants to use the Quick Add Pane, just disable the firefox script that removed the Quick Add Pane (easy to do), and click the browser's refresh button .... the Quick Add Pane will be enabled (and remain enabled until the script is re-enabled).

Not an ideal solution ... but waiting for a solution from Microsoft is probably futile.

But hopefully any cockpit software you use is not running on a Windows platform .... having Windows crash while on final approach would ruin one's day!

Hi Langware and everyone else. Just like to thank you for all your efforts, which i am sure contibuted greatly to us getting the upload tool back. Now you're asking for even more assistance with an option to turn off the "quick add panel", well good luck mate!

What a novel idea!!

Shhhhh .... lets not tell MS of that concept .... by ignoring it (and assumming that they can do what they want, when they want, and how they want .... regardless of customer input) .... MS may wake up one day and find that companies like Apple and Google have "eaten their lunch".

Brandon,   I still do not have the upload tool.  I am using Vista 64.  Can you help?

Unfortunately no - 64 bit OSes are not currently supported by the Photo Upload Tool.

Brandon,  When will the 64 bit oses be supported by the photo upload feature?

Brandon, I am changing over to a Vista 64 computer in the next month. When is MS saying they are going to have the photo up loader for Vista 64 working? 

ALSO, will that have effect on the Windows 7. Will the photo up/down loader work with Win 7 ???

My boss just told me our systems are going to be going over to Windows 7, just want to know what headache I am going to be dealing with next.  

Cant wait to having warm fuzzy feelings all over again… It's just is not my day.
