When i hit the reply button on a mail the screen that I reply on is just blank, it does not have the original message on.

when i hit the forward button on a mail the screen comes up blank not having the original message on so that I cannot forward anything on.

Can you tell me why this has started to happen and how I can resolve it

Based on our records lcj58, you’re using Opera browser.  I regret to inform you but it’s currently not a supported browser of Hotmail.  This is the reason why you’re encountering issues.  For now, I suggest that you use a different browser like Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox to reply or forward e-mails.
