I keep getting a large amount of junk mail that's trying to sell me random software, so I made a filter to move anything containing "software" in the subject line to the Junk Folder.  This use to work perfectly.  Recently it's stopped working and I'm recieving the junk in my inbox.  The filter still exists.  I've not done anything to it. 

When it continued to not catch e-mails with "software" in the subject, I deleted and then re-created the filter, but it's still not moving the crap out of my inbox. Why has it stopped working, and what can I do to fix it?

I would need to look into your account, please reply to this post and include your Windows Live Hotmail e-mail address.

In the meantime, I suggest that you set your Junk Mail Filter to Exclusive. When your Junk e-mail filter is set to “High” you will only receive messages from people or domains that are in your contacts list and safe senders list.

I don't want to set my junk filter to exclusive because I'm a first-year grad student and sometimes get mail both from teachers, libraries, and other students who, having never mailed my previously, aren't in my contacts yet, and I need to be able to recieve those e-mails.    I would appreciate you taking a look at my account.  thanks!

Please post a copy of the email you received in your Inbox which contains “software” in it’s subject with full message headers exposed. Here’s how to obtain this info:

1. Right-click on the unopened message from the message list.
2. Choose the "View message source" option on the dropdown menu. You will be seeing a new window containing the e-mail message headers and its content.
 

I don't have the e-mails anymore.  I always automatically mark them as junk and then empty the junk folder.  because I delete them from the junk folder they don't copy to the deleted folder.  I don't have any to show you right now.

Okay, so this one intentionally misspelled the word 'software' so that my filter could't have caught it.  (and they never started misspelling it until I posted here, but I've now recieved three that were misspelled)  I didn't post the other two because there wasn't a way the filter could have caught them, but this one also has the word 'mac' in the subject which is another filter I have set up.  So it looks like all my filters are failing to move anything out of my inbox.  Here's the headers: (and I do have a second e-mail from these same people that I can give you headers from too, but the second one due to intentional misspellings had nothing that should have triggered my filters)

Looking at the full message headers, I did not see a misspelled “software” or “mac” word on the subject field. This is the reason why your messages are not being filtered.

Senders of spam e-mails are constantly trying to find ways to bypass account filters. We at Windows Live Hotmail are trying to improve e-mail filtering to help our fight against spam.

Well I definitely see those words as the subject when the e-mail sits in my inbox.  So what do I do about it?
