Regarding your statement ...

Given Microsoft's committment ... could you answer the following questions:

1. What SPECIFIC upgrades will be made to improve service?

2. When (SPECIFICALLY) will those upgrades be made?

At this point, the ONLY official information provided by Microsoft has been various derivitives of this statement: "we have forwarded your feedback to the Development Team". OK, we accept that. NOW WHAT????? Please provide specifics on what changes will be made and when we can expect those changes.

Without specific answers to those questions, I suspect more and more customers will abandon Hotmail (due to lack of any timely response to the many MANY requests from customers in these forums).

If your management will not allow you to provide specific answers to those questions, then how can we believe in Microsoft's committment to customer satisfaction? Without answers to those questions, the only thing we can imply is that Microsoft's attitude is: In spite of the overwhelming number of negative comments about the ads on the right, we are not going to fix that problem. If you (customers) don't like that answer, then you can get your email service elsewhere.

now i consider myself a red blooded male an' all BUT

it has a link to an online store with certain products a lot of peeps are going to be embarrased if there youngsters see them

It is obvious we are not able to read our entire email.  This is a huge problem!  At least give hotmail users the choice of having it at the top or right side.  It's very simple...I can't read my entire email!

At least 1/3 is cut off because of the ads.  I am working double time forwarding my emails to my husbands account and then having to read them there.  We need a resolution!  The ad needs to be moved!

To all who have complained along with me, I have another solution.  Let's all contact those who advertise using this very irratating right side banner.  Notify them that we saw the ad and because of the position of placement, we will NEVER utilize their product simply because of where Microsoft placed the ad on the hotmail (Live) page.

If the advertiser are smart THEY will MAKE Microsoft move the ad to please the potential customer (US)

I am in agreement with everyone on this horrible banner ad.  Does Microsoft feel we should open things in our Inbox not knowing what the subject is, and risk getting a virus, worm, or porn we do not want?

I had to call my cousin and ask her what she was saying in her email because 2/3 of it is not there due to the rediculous banner.

I am with you, I want to know who just one of these so-called people are who like the banner on the right!!!  Clearly the Mod's think we are not intelligent enough to figure that is a lie.  If there is anyone out there who likes the banner where it is, well they oviously like the challange of trying to figure out what is said in their emails, and like the russian roulette they play opening things in their Inbox-"will I get a worm or a virus when I open this one?"

I DO NOT PLAY RUSSIAN ROULETTE IN MY INBOX, AND I PREFER TO READ THE ENTIRE EMAILS I OPEN!!!!!

I will follow the others who have pleaded with the Mod's and Microsoft to change the banner to the top (the Mod's clearly do not read the entire responses-how many replies read, "move the banner to the top"?  The Mod replied, "Where do you want it moved to"?  HELLO, only EVERYONE has said move it to the top!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will move my emails to yahoo, and notifiy everyone.  When, if ever this issue is corrected I will come back.

By the way, at the bottom of this it has the box to check "email me replies to this post".  Are they kidding?  Could not read it if anyone did reply!

GREAT idea. If each of us (who are upset at the ads being placed on the right) started contacting the advertisers (to tell them how upset we are, and that we will boycott their products) ... I suspect that might result in MS changing their mind about this issue.

Since we have gotten no response from the MS Development Team, then perhaps our next step should be to contact the advertisers. 

contacting the advertisers will do absolutely nothing I'm afraid- they are in the business to make money, and the right side ad spots are the most important location to them- We are addressing hte problem with hte right people- Hotmail- The ad companies aren't about to budge on the issue- nor is Hotmail apparently who 'can't do anythign about hte problem' 'at hte moment', but are 'taking our omplaints' "under advisement" ()Translation- Nothign will be done because they don't want to lose money with the advertisers- be rest assured, we'll always be told Microsoft is 'concerned about howhteir customers feel' while we have to put up with not being able to read our emails!

I agree, totally annoying.  Another thing that is annoying is the fact that you can't talk to a person about it.  All we can do is send emails, if even that, and nothing changes.  I hear GMAIL is MUCH BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1Maybe if everyone switched, they would do something!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no banners/ ads/ flashing images that pop out when you scroll over them- or sudden loud outbursts of noise

i spent an entire evening trying to upload images last night- then trying to find someone to put the system right- because the compose new page diappeared and put me back to the homepage :(

in the time it took hotmail not to bother sorting this annoying problem out for myself and others- i signed up with gmail uploaded and sent the mail

hotmail- what ever their hollow corporate, well rehearsed PR sprach tells us don't give a flying fig

as i said GMail- no annoying ads whatsoever

BTW Hotmail was fine for me before the face lift

Thanks, Paul.  I agree.  For years I've accepted the banners as the "price" I pay to access the good features of Hotmail.  The placement of this particular banner is far too intrusive.  It makes Hotmail a bad experience.  Add to that the patronizing, non-helpful response encounter here, and it makes me wonder what to do?

I'm starting to wonder if the canned responses from Hotmail are from outsourced customer service.

Imagine if an automaker decided that an advertiser's ads should obscure 1/2 of the windshield, obscuring our view of the road & customers who complained were told "Well, some people prefer the ads over their windshields'? Or imagine if they were told "We've submitted your 'concerns' to the automaker, and we'll see how htey respond"? Unreal!

Hotmail- either FIX the PROBLEM, or a good many of your customers are goign to look elsewhere for their email needs- Pretty simple. You BROKE Hotmail- and IF you aren't goign to listen to those hwo are pleading with you to fix it, then prepare to lose htem as customers- I bet your advertisers will really appreciate the fact that you drove away your customers by refusign to fix the PROBLEM

On my way to gmail even as we speak....what a pain hotmail has caused me to have to change everything in all my online accounts! 

I AGREE!! Suddenly the view space for the actual email is a fraction of the size. Not only is it a problem on the laptops but on desktops!! Extremely Annoying!!

So what's happened?  Has everyone given up?  That's what Microsoft wants - for us to get frustrated and just give up.  Then they don't have to fix the problem.  Just like insurance companies!  I've opened gmail and yahoo accounts, but I'm keeping my hotmail open just to see what's going to be done about getting rid of this right side ad banner.

Come on, everyone - we have to keep demanding change. 

Remember Microsoft?  We do want change.  Change out hotmail back the way it was.
